How to Apply

Whether you’re applying to Emory College, Oxford College, or both, this guide will walk you through each part of the process. Follow these steps to apply for undergraduate admission to Emory University.

Step 1: Choose Your Application Plan

Oxford London Program Student

Early Decision:

Applying Early Decision at Emory means you’re ready to make it your top choice. Both Early Decision I (Nov. 1) and Early Decision II (Jan. 1) are binding plans for students confident in their fit—ED I lets you hear back sooner, while ED II gives you a little more time to prepare before committing. Learn more about Early Decision.

Regular Decision:

Applying Regular Decision (Jan. 1) gives you more time and flexibility. It’s a non-binding option for students who want to keep their college choices open. Learn more about Regular Decision.

Transfers:

Transfer applicants are current college students ready for a change. Emory looks for strong academics, clear goals, and a fit with our community. The application deadline for transfer students is March 15. Learn more about applying as a Transfer Student.

Step 2: Select Your Starting Campus

Emory offers two ways to begin your journey: Emory College in Atlanta or Oxford College in Oxford, Georgia. Apply to one or both through the Common App. All students earn the same Emory degree, with Oxford students transitioning to the Atlanta campus by junior year.

Oxford Launch: London Program

A select group of Oxford College first-year students start their Emory journey abroad, taking Emory courses in a dynamic global city. The program offers early exposure to hands-on learning and builds strong international connections. Learn more about Oxford Launch.

Emory Scholar Program

Emory’s Scholar Program offers merit-based awards, academic enrichment, and a close-knit community. To be considered, apply by November 15 and choose any decision plan on the Common Application. Learn more about the Emory Scholar Program.

Step 4: Submit Your Application

Start Your Application

  • Apply through the Common App: Begin by adding Emory University to your list of colleges on the Common Application.
  • Select Emory Scholars Consideration: Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to be considered for the Emory Scholars Program.

Write Your Essays

Submit Academic Records

  • Official High School Transcript: Request your school to send an official transcript.
  • Official College Transcripts (if applicable): Submit college transcripts if you’ve completed college-level coursework.
  • Secondary School Report: Your school counselor should submit the secondary school report.
  • Midyear Report and Transcript: Required for Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants.

Recommendation Letters

  • Two Academic Recommendations: Request letters from two core academic teachers (e.g., English, math, science, social studies, or foreign language).

Test Scores (If Applicable)

  • TOEFL or IELTS (Recommended): If English is not your first language, submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
  • SAT/ACT (Optional): You may self-report scores in the Common App or send official ones.
  • AP Scores: You may self-report scores in the Common App or send official ones.

Application Fee or Application Fee Waiver

  • Submit a $75 application fee or request a fee waiver.

Step 5: Submit your Standardized Test

Emory is test-optional through the 2026–2027 cycle. Submit SAT or ACT scores only if they strengthen your application. Emory’s codes: SAT – 5187; ACT – 0810. We’ll consider your highest score. Learn more about our Emory test optional policy.
