Transfer Applicants

Emory University considers you a transfer student if you have already graduated from high school and also completed one year as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at another two-year or four-year college or university. A minimum of 28 credit hours must have been completed or in progress before enrolling at Emory. The 28 hours of credit cannot include credit from AP, IB, or dual-enrollment classes. Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all college work attempted: most students admitted into Emory College have a GPA of 3.5 or better. In the 2016-2017 cycle, about 25% of transfer applicants were admitted.

Please note, Oxford College and the Goizueta Business School do not accept transfer applicants. Students who wish to complete a BBA at the Goizueta Business School must first complete two full semesters of coursework in Emory College of Arts and Sciences and then apply to Goizueta.

*International transfer applicants not currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university, are only permitted to apply for the Fall semester. Those international transfer applicants enrolled in a U.S. college or university and admitted to Emory for the Spring semester, need to know the process to transfer a visa record to Emory will need to occur quickly. The holiday period at the end of December to early January may impede the transfer of a visa record if the student does not meet our request for documents in a timely way. One's cooperation with this important part of the application is greatly appreciated.
