Admission Plans and Deadlines

By offering different deadlines for applying, Emory accommodates students who want to make definitive college decisions early as well as students who wish to build some flexibility into their plans. You can apply to Emory College, Oxford College, or both with one application using either the Coalition Application or the Common Application.

Early Decision I

  • Early Decision I is a binding program that allows you to learn of your admission decision early in your senior year.
  • The Early Decision agreement, required of all Early Decision applicants, must be signed by the student, parent/guardian, and school counselor.
  • Students can apply Early Decision to Oxford College, Emory College or both. If you are accepted to both Oxford College and Emory College Early Decision, you have until the deposit date to choose which campus to attend.
  • If you apply Early Decision to both Oxford College and Emory College, and you are admitted Early Decision to only one of the campuses, you will need to pay your admission deposit to that school.
  • For admitted Early Decision I students, the enrollment deposit of $485 and enrollment agreement must be submitted by January 15.

Emory University Scholar Programs

  • If you wish to be considered for merit-based scholarships at Emory University, you must apply by the Emory University Scholar Programs deadline and select an admission plan of Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision.
  • Applicants no longer need to be nominated by a high school guidance / college counselor to be considered for merit-based scholarships.
  • Applicants to the Emory University Scholar Programs will learn whether they are selected as a finalist for a Scholar program by February 15. Applicants selected as finalists will also learn of their admission decision. All other applicants not selected as finalists will learn of their admission decision based on the notification date for the admission plan they selected (see chart above).

Early Decision II

  • Early Decision II is a binding program that allows you to learn of your admission decision by February 15.
  • The Early Decision agreement, required of all Early Decision applicants, must be signed by the student, parent/guardian, and school counselor.
  • Students can apply Early Decision to Oxford College, Emory College or both. If you are accepted to both Oxford College and Emory College Early Decision, you have until the deposit date to choose which campus to attend.
  • If you apply Early Decision to both Oxford College and Emory College, and you are admitted Early Decision to only one of the campuses, you will need to pay your admission deposit to that school.
  • For admitted Early Decision II students, the enrollment deposit of $485 and enrollment agreement must be submitted by March 1.

Regular Decision

  • Regular Decision is a traditional application plan that is nonbinding.
  • You may apply to Emory College, Oxford College, or to both schools.
  • Admitted Regular Decision students will have until May 1 to submit their enrollment deposit of $485 and enrollment agreement and reserve their spot in the incoming first-year class.
