Admission Plans and Deadlines

By offering different deadlines for applying, Emory accommodates students who want to make definitive college decisions early as well as students who wish to build some flexibility into their plans. You can apply to Emory College, Oxford College, or both with one application using the online Common Application.

Early Decision I

  • Early Decision I is a binding program that allows you to learn of your admission decision early in your senior year.
  • The Early Decision agreement, required of all Early Decision applicants, must be signed by the student, parent, and school counselor.
  • Students can apply Early Decision to Oxford College, Emory College or both. If you are accepted to both Oxford College and Emory College Early Decision, you have until the deposit date to choose which campus to attend.
  • If you apply Early Decision to both Oxford College and Emory College, and you are admitted Early Decision to one of them, you will need to pay your admission deposit to that division.
  • For admitted Early Decision I students, the enrollment deposit is due by January 15

Emory University Scholars Program

  • If you wish to be considered for academic scholarships at Emory University, you must apply by the Emory University Scholars deadline and select an admission plan of Early Decision I, Early Decision II or Regular Decision.
  • You may nominate yourself for merit scholarships on the Common Application by selecting "The Emory University Scholars Program" on Emory's member page. By making this selection you will be considered for the Emory College, Oxford College, and Goizueta Business School scholarship programs.
  • Applicants no longer need to be nominated by a high school guidance / college counselor to be considered for merit-based scholarships. No additional forms or essays are required.
  • Applicants to the Emory University Scholars Program will learn whether they are selected as a finalist for a Scholars program by January 31. Applicants selected as finalists will also learn of their admission decision. All other applicants not selected as finalists will learn of their admission decision based on the notification date for the admission plan they selected (see chart above).

Early Decision II

  • Early Decision II is a binding program that allows you to learn of your admission decision by mid-February.
  • The Early Decision agreement, required of all Early Decision applicants, must be signed by the student, parent, and school counselor.
  • Students can apply Early Decision to Oxford College, Emory College or both. If you are accepted to both Oxford College and Emory College Early Decision, you have until the deposit date to choose which campus to attend.
  • If you apply Early Decision to both Oxford College and Emory College, and you are admitted Early Decision to one of them, you will need to pay your admission deposit to that division.
  • For admitted Early Decision II students, the enrollment deposit is due by March 1.

Regular Decision

  • Regular Decision is a traditional application plan that is nonbinding.
  • You may apply to Emory College, Oxford College, or to both schools.
